Scripture For The Weary Mom

Tired mom you cannot rely on your own strength to do your job! Sometimes you will get tired, weak, and frustrated from laying your life down for others..from staying up late..for getting up early..for dealing with temper tantrums.. piles of dishes…and laundry. Through all the trials and tribulations of life it’s easy to lose our focus..our purpose…our goal.. of raising Godly children!

Whenever discouragement kicks in it is time to fight back with filling your heart and soul with God’s living word. Dig deep, push yourself into a deeper walk with Christ, more reading of His word, and scripture memory. Push hard and you will push on through to the other side of this! The victory! The peace! The refocus! Remember it is only for a season!

Scriptures To Meditate On:

Philippians 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Psalms 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Proverbs 16:20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

Self: The Ultimate Sacrifice To Raising A Godly Family

I once heard a story about two women visiting together on the front porch. One a older mother whose small children were quietly playing at her feet, and the other a young newlywed. After observing the small children playing at hers friends feet she said, “I would give my life for children like that.”

The older mother smiled and wisely said”That’s exactly what it takes.”

Ever since I first heard that story, it’s meaning spoke so loudly to me about the sacrifice it takes to raise children for Gods glory! Biblical motherhood means sacrifice, selfless love, faithful dedication, and a generational mindset.

I am not here to serve myself… I am not here to be put on a pedestal…I am not here merely for my own needs and wants…

I am here to to help build a kingdom with my husband–Gods kingdom and that starts with my children. I am here to build a culture–God’s culture and that starts with my children!

However, there is a price to building that kingdom and it starts with self–myself to be exact! If you are not ready to pay that price, no amount of encouragement, no self help book, no tv interview, NO NOTHING can give you that joy of motherhood. The cost is high and it is the same cost that it takes to be a follower of Christ. Daily I am to die to myself and serve my family. Daily I must give up present satisfaction for eternal rewards. I must think about how each move I make, things I let in my home, routines, traditions will effect future generations of my family. I must carefully consider what I am sowing into to them lest I reap it in my children, or my grandchildren.

  • Am I sowing  laziness  or diligence?
  • Am I teaching them to check out or endure?
  • Am I teaching them to be idle or busy?
  • Am I sowing entertainment or bible studies?
  • Am I helping them to grow in Christ or just get through the day?
  • Am I allowing them to see my walk with the Lord or hiding my faith?

Let’s face it Motherhood is a tough job. Daily I invest in the lives of my family who may never fully appreciate or realize all that I do for them…all that I give up…there may never be a thank you or acknowledgement of all it takes on my part to keep it all afloat. But with the grace of God I will press on towards the mark for the price of the high calling of Jesus Christ. I will not give up. I will fight the good fight and I will raise Godly children for Him!

Scriptures To Reflect On:

Galatians 2:20 – I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Luke 9:23 – And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Galatians 5:24 – And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Mark 8:35 – For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
